Picnic Puppies

Most poodles are and very affectionate with their people. They enjoy being a part of a family and love being involved in activities making them a great choice for families with children. They are smart and learn tricks and routines easily. Poodles were developed as hunting and retrieving dogs in Europe and excel in just about anything from obedience to hunting to agility to therapy dogs. If you are looking for a specific temperament, let me know and I will see what I can do.
Why poodle?

Do you have a health guarantee?
Our puppies are vet checked, dewormed and given their first vaccinations before they go to their new homes and we make every effort to make sure they are happy and healthy. Because we cannot control the environment of the puppies new home, we do not offer a health guarantee. We want to hear if any health issue should arise and we can work together to find a solution.

Can we come visit and pick out our puppy?
Yes! We enjoy having visitors and showing off our puppies. Contact us and we will set up a time and send you directions. Feel free to visit and meet our adult dogs and see their personalities
We are on a farm Southeast of Swift Current, Saskatchewan, Canada.,
Where are you located?
We have a family tradition of Sunday picnics when the weather is nice in the summer. It is a chance to spend time enjoying the outdoors with extended family. Kids and dogs have fun playing in the water and catching frogs. Our dogs love to go for a picnic and it can be a great time for socialization for puppies as well as us.
Why the name Picnic Puppies?

What is a moyen poodle?
A moyen poodle is between a miniature and a standard poodle in size. They weigh 15 to 35 pounds and stand 15 to 20 inches tall. This is a great size for anyone who is active and worried about a miniature poodle not being able to keep up or who want a little bigger dog. But don't worry, they like to lie on the couch and watch movies too!
They are popular in Europe where they are also known as a Klein poodle.

What is a miniature poodle?
A miniature poodle weighs between 10 and 15 pounds and stands 10 to 15 inches tall.
Our adult dogs have been DNA tested to ensure that there are no life threatening genetic diseases being passed down to the puppies.
Do you have your dogs health tested?
The puppies are born in the house and spend most of their time in the kitchen and office. They are used to being handles every day and used to sounds and activity of a busy household. If the weather is nice, we also give them outside playtime everyday.
How are the puppies raised?

What will they look like when they get older?
It all depends on their grooming. I like the look of a clean face but a poodle is very versatile and it is up to you how you have them trimmed.

Do poodles shed?
Poodles have a soft curly coat. They lose hair similar to people, but it is usually caught in the curls. They will not shed their Winter hair in Spring and leave hair all over the house. They do need regular grooming to keep them from becoming matted and unclean. We like to keep them trimmed short so they don't need to be brushed as often. In Winter, we leave their coat longer to give them protection from the cold.
Poodles are one of the best options for people with allergies, however we are not able to guarantee any allergic result specifically. We invite you to come play with our dogs and see if you have a reaction before you make a decision.
I have allergies. Will they work for me?
How can you part with them?
One of our favorite things is handing the puppy over to the new owners, knowing that this puppy is going to be loved and cared for and be a big part of his new family's life. We know how much a good dog can add to a family and the joy and memories that will be made. We cannot keep them all and even though there are always special puppies in each litter, they will get more love and attention in their new homes. I love getting updated showing what our puppies are doing!

What do you feed them?
All our dogs are fed Kirklands Turkey and Sweet Potato dog food. We soften with water for the puppies until their teeth come in. We suggest you find a good quality food with meat as the main ingredient and no corn, wheat or soy. We send a baggie of food with our pups so you can mix it with whatever dog food you have chosen to make the transition easier.

Do you ship puppies?
We prefer to meet the people face to face to give them their puppy. That being said, if you are from a distance away, we will work with you to make sure your puppy gets home with the least stress possible. Shipping costs and arrangements are the responsibility of the new owner.
Contact us and let us know what you are looking for. Once the puppies are born I will let you know and you can send us a $200 deposit to hold your puppy. We will send you weekly updates and get all the puppies vet checked to make sure they are healthy. At eight weeks it is time for your puppy to come home to you.
